Davis Middle School Staff and Students "take flight" to build relationships as the 2014-15 school year begins
Assistant Principal Ricardo Randall shared with me in a recent email what the DMS administration offered the staff as part of the pre-service week. He wrote, " Our staff enjoyed the activity and it was great to witness the collaboration and team spirit. Several teachers have used the same activity in their classes and they were very pleased with the levels of student engagement.

Differentiated Levels of Support
New and “new to Hampton City Schools” administrators will have access to transition support for up to 3 years. This eases the transition typically associated with moving from another school division, an assistant principal position, or as a classroom teacher. Sessions may be scheduled longer or occur more frequently at the request of the administrator.
Sample Leadership Coaching Session Format
As we will learn throughout the year during our training in evocative coaching, conversations will follow a structure as presented on a mobius strip (see left). Following a brief “check-in”, the Coach will listen carefully to the administrator as to determine where the conversation may lead them.... what exciting things are happening in the building? Let's use those same elements to examine a troubling situation. Is there an issue or problem that the administrator may be seeking clarity? Perhaps using a different vantage point may help. Building off of the strengths of the administrator is always the focus.
The coaching session which follows the monthly professional development sessions delivered by the Center for School Transformation staff can be a debriefing and clarification of the session as well as a coaching practice session in dyads consisting of the Principal, Assistant Principal(s) and the Leadership Coach.
